Last week, our team continued working on both the core system infrastructure and the user-facing experience. The main focus of the week was validating part of the migration process, expanding language support, and starting more active work on the mobile applications while also improving the web app.

Migration Module Validation

One of the most important tasks this week was validating that the migration module dump file is working correctly. This is a significant step because the new system is expected to preserve and import relevant data from the previous Maker Lab base instead of discarding it.

Making sure that the dump file works correctly helps reduce risk in the transition from the previous platform to the new one. It also gives more confidence that the migration path is technically viable and that existing information can be carried into the new structured system.

English and Portuguese Translations Added

Another major improvement this week was the addition of new translations. At this stage, the whole application is now translated into English and Portuguese.

This is a very valuable improvement from a usability perspective. It makes the platform more accessible to different users and brings the interface closer to a more polished and complete state. It also shows progress not only in system functionality, but also in the quality of the user experience.

Work Started on the Mobile Apps

This week also marked the start of more direct work on the mobile applications. Since mobile support is part of the broader project vision, this is an important development for the system as a whole.

The project is intended to support both web and mobile usage, so beginning concrete work on the mobile side means the team is moving closer to that goal. It also helps keep the mobile experience aligned with the same requisition and project-management workflows being developed for the web platform.

Improvements to the Web App

Alongside the mobile work, the team also made further improvements to the web app. Continuing to refine the web platform while mobile development begins is important because it helps keep the overall system consistent across clients and avoids the two tracks evolving too far apart.

This parallel progress is useful because the application is designed around shared workflows and shared services, even if users access it from different platforms.

Why This Week Mattered

This week was especially important because it touched three key areas of the project at once:

  • migration readiness,
  • user accessibility through translations,
  • and cross-platform development through mobile and web improvements.

Together, these achievements show that the project is moving beyond isolated module development and toward a more complete and deployable product. The system is becoming more robust internally, while also improving in accessibility and platform coverage.

Next Steps

With migration validation underway, translations in place, and mobile development started, the next steps will likely focus on continuing feature parity between platforms, refining the web and mobile interfaces, and strengthening the full end-to-end workflow across the system.
